Newly appointed coach Misbah-ul-Haq has described Pakistan as a cricket-loving country. He has requested the world cricket community to cooperate with the return of the game in Pakistan. Significantly, since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009, foreign cricket teams have been reluctant to visit Pakistan. Even after 10 years of this incident, cricket teams around the world fear security in Pakistan. It is worth noting that the Sri Lankan team is again on a tour of Pakistan after a full 10 years, where they have to play a series of three ODIs and T20 Internationals.

However, several senior players of the Sri Lankan cricket team had withdrawn their names from the tour citing security reasons. In which the names of Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews are prominent. The first foreign team to visit Pakistan after this attack was the Zimbabwean team which toured in 2015. After this, teams from the West Indies, World XI visited Pakistan. Misbah-ul-Haq appealed to the world cricket community, saying, ‘World cricket needs to cooperate. Not only in Pakistan but wherever it is needed. One day matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be held in Karachi and T20 matches will be held in Lahore.
